Parkinson’s disease is a degenerative condition affecting the nerve cells in the brain caused by low levels of dopamine, a neurotransmitter that facilitates movement. The most commonly recognized symptoms of Parkinson’s are motor, but non-motor symptoms, which many are unaware of, are sometimes the first to present.
